Q: What inspired you to start doing these?<\/strong><\/p>\n A:<\/strong> I used to be, and still am, a member of a photoshopping community who would post work for others to see. It was an atmosphere of mutual appreciation of the creative skills of the members. When I first joined, back in 2005, there was a really good “animangler” called Amon (his work is still bouncing around the internet despite him having disappeared from the community several years ago) and I thought to myself “I can do that”. So I had a go. My first animangle was “Chip Russell<\/a>” and I was really pleased with it. So I did another one and another one and another one and here I am today\u00a0with a facebook page, a tumblr site, this website and a dedicated twitter account all tasked with showing anyone who cares to look at them my collection of over 200 animangles.<\/p>\n Q: Where do you get your ideas from?<\/strong><\/p>\n A:<\/strong> Sometimes I’ll just see a picture of an animal while browsing tumblr pages and I’ll think to myself “What would that look like with an otter’s face?” and then I’ll spend the next half an hour finding out. Sometimes one of my twitter followers will request them and sometimes I’ll ask for suggestions.<\/p>\n Q: How long have you been doing this?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: <\/strong>Since 2005 which was around the time that I started using Photoshop properly. I’d dabbled with other image manipulation applications before but getting photoshop really opened up the possibilities. I taught myself how to use it and I’m still learning things\u00a0today.<\/p>\n Q: How long does it take to make an animangle?<\/strong><\/p>\n A: <\/strong>What I’ve found is that the best ones take the least time. Joyce<\/a> took less than 5 minutes to do while something like the Shat<\/a> took well over an hour – I’m really happy with both but I’ve laboured over some for an hour and looked at the end result and then deleted them. Not every animangle makes it into the zoo.<\/p>\n I will add any other questions I am asked to this list.
